Our Team The team behind 1st Newent. Matt Group Scout Leader Matt has overall responsibility for the group. His role is to ensure that all children are enjoying Scouting and having fun in a safe manner, Matt is also the line manager for most of our volunteers. Fun Facts: Matt re-joined Scouting in 2018 Heather Deputy Group Scout Leader / Beaver Leader Heather is our deputy group Scout leader as an assistant to the GSL. Heather’s main focus is on program delivery. Heather is also our Beaver Section Leader. Alex Section Leader – Scouts Alex is the Section Leader for Scouts. Alex joined scouting in 2018 as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader. The Scout Leader is responsible for the overall planning and delivery of the Scouts programme, which he works with the Scouts to formulate. Alex enjoys a wide range of activities from hiking and camping to seeing the Scouts grow as individuals. Helen Assistant Section Leader – Scouts Helen works with our Scout Section Leader to plan and deliver sessions at Scouts. Gareth Cub Scout Leader Gareth is responsible for the Cubs section at 1st Newent and works with other Cubs leaders to develop and deliver a great programme for our Cubs. Peter Section Assistant (Cubs) Peter works with our Cubs Section Leader to help plan and deliver sessions at Cubs. Nina Assistant Section Leader (Beavers) Nina liaises with our Beaver Section Leader and other Assistant Section Leaders (ASLs) in our 1st Newent Beaver team to ensure a great programme and delivery. Rochelle Assistant Section Leader (Beavers) Rochelle is another of our Beaver ASLs. Her role is also to assist with the planning and delivery of the Beaver programme alongside over Beaver leaders. Eden Assistant Section Leader and Social Media Eden assists the Beaver Section Leader and other Beaver ASLs with programme planning and delivery. Eden is also responsible for ensuring our social media platforms and groups are kept up to date for parents and also the wider public to encourage recruitment and share updates of what’s happening at 1st Newent.
